I tought it would be nice to showcase this, as it shows the process going on the great clothes you often see at LARPs

Hobby art: sewing!

I participate in a monthly LARP because seriously guys, improv + costume making + theatrical makeup + camping how can you go wrong. I have two characters at present, Boots-the-dhampari-undead and Mirek here. A friend from game gave me a TON of fabric so I made him a fancy vest.

My initial designs were based off of a ton of research + things that would look good on me + things my character would actually wear + things I had fabric for. I did a lot of sketches from medieval German clothing (endrani, the drow-like race, come from a Germany-based country) and stole bits I liked. I saw this type of sleeves occasionally and want to try something like that. I haven’t had time to finish up the sleeves but they’ll be removable and hopefully keep me a bit warmer; I was freezing all game! I did have a pattern for the torso of the vest, but I pretty much used it to cut the basic shapes and then tossed it aside and made things up. Overall pretty successful, I didn’t mess up the button holes for once!

I’d like to refine the cloak as well, I originally wanted it to have a cowl or mantle but ran out of time.

“I wanted to do something but then I ran out of time” is a pretty good summary of how my sewing projects work.
