I have two.
The first happened at my main larp, Realms of Adventure, in Sparta NJ. I came to the game when a bunch of people who had been playing bards left. So after a few years I had gained some expertise in my class. A powerful mage, who I am not on very good terms with, came over to me and asked me who the strongest bard in the area was, because he wanted to speak to them. I just smiled and said, “I am.”
My second favorite larp memory came from Dystopia Rising, also in Sparta NJ. Basically the entire town was about to get rolled by zombies and nazis and stuff and we couldn’t see anything, but we could hear them. Suddenly, the strobe lights went off, illuminating the field and there were so many of them surrounding us. Scariest and best “oh, so I’m going to die” moment.
Before embarking on this hobby you should be prepared to push your comfort zone a little or a lot. Whether that be going up to random people and talking to them, running from orcs in the pouring rain, or having an amazing roleplaying experience, larp pushes everyone somewhat.
