So, I got engaged at my LARP yesterday!
Matt and I met about 5 years ago in line for a Seventh Kingdom IGE event. This past weekend was the game’s sixth year anniversary and I was sent out as my NPC, Gabi, to hook a mod for my boyfriend’s character, Captain Ren. Our Rules Director gave me the mod-situation and I came into town, roleplayed a little and grabbed Ren.
We arrived at the mod-site to find that people were already there! I was frustrated because I had a mod to run. Two characters (played by my close friends) were fighting about something and covered in blood. I started moving forward, reluctantly trying to solve the situation and get on with my mod when a HOLD was called. At 7k, a HOLD stops game-play and it usually means someone is hurt or there’s a clarification. Everyone gets down on their knees and stays quiet. Because I’m junior staff at my game, I kept standing to assess what the issue was.
…Then people started coming out of the woodwork. The president and game director were suddenly there. And so many of my favorite people. And I’m really confused. They’re pointing and saying “Look down!” and I’m like ‘what is the problem, it’s just Matt knee–’ and then the first picture happened.
“Nana Walls, will you be my forever bb?”
Needless to say, I said yes and proceeded to freak out and cry. My friends are deceiving jerks that just wanted to bottle my tears. They spent the rest of the event calling me Mrs. McConnell and teasing me. I couldn’t ask for a better fiancé or better friends. I’m so unbelievably lucky to spend the rest of my life with such a caring, supportive, and attractive pirate hobo. I love you, bb!
